Wednesday Quiz Time

Quizzes tonight:

7pm – The Joker & The Thief. Jackpot £60. Cheat: Sailing (pic round)

9pm – Brass Monkey, Drummond Street. Jackpot £30 Cheat: Chaka Demus & Pliers (music round)

Hey. Midweek is the stuff. No one knows you’re out. Ready to have a good time. Oh yeah.

Anyway: here’s the music clue for tonight’s quiz at the Joker & The Thief. It is a terrific reggae pop thing which held Britain captivated in its thrall during the summer of ’93.

The song only got to number 3 in the UK Singles Chart despite being far superior to their only no.1 which was a slightly pish cover of ‘Twist & Shout’ by the Beatles.

Who were Chaka Demus and Pliers? They came from Jamaica and I know you’re all dying to know their real names.

Chaka Demus was the DJ and his real name was John Taylor. Pretty standard.

Pliers was the singer and real name was Everton Bonner. Pretty cool.

Sunday Pub Quizzes On Tonight In Edinburgh

Tonight’s quizzes :

6pm – The Persevere. Jackpot: £90. Cheat: Mars Bar (pic round)

8pm – Tolbooth Tavern. Jackpot: £60. Cheat: Eddy Grant (music round)

Sorry if you were at the Persevere last Sunday when we were unable to go ahead with the quiz due to the large number of Hibees in the bar.

It was disappointing for me too but that’s just one of those things that comes with the territory but maybe we could crowd-fund a campaign to only have football played on Saturdays ONLY.

The good thing is that the pub agreed to make the jackpot a rollover, so we are up to £90 tonight. That’s cool.

Anyway, here’s tonight’s cheat item which relates to the music round at the Tolbooth Tavern

It’s Eddy Grant, the one where he’s got a raft rather than the one where he’s got a motorbike.

I like both. I might even play both tonight. Come to the quiz to win money and find out the happy or sad ending to this Eddy Grant whirlpool.

Yo!
