Wednesday 10th April

Quizzes tonight:

7pm – The Joker & The Thief. Jackpot £120. Cheat: 2 Unlimited (music round)

9pm – Brass Monkey, Drummond Street. Jackpot £60 Cheat: Lily (pic round)

Here is the free answer for tonight’s music round at the Joker. It’s 1990s mega rave-pop Dutch People: 2 Unlimited.

This was when Rave had come out of the fields and into the charts and having it large had become the new normal:

Fred, Cindy, Kate, Keith and Ricky

Includes the line: “Don’t just stand there, let’s get loose. I am Ray, I’ve got the juice.

Probably not 2 Unlimited’s finest moment.

But for a wee while there in the 1990s it was smileys, bandanas, tie-dye and ravey gloves. Literally everyone. Even cops, financial advisers and primary school teachers.

Monday Pub Quiz Action In Edinburgh

Quizzes for Monday night in Edinburgh:

7pm – Brass Monkey Leith. Jackpot: £50. Cheat: The music round contains a song by Joan Osborne. See vid below to hear the song. It was a big hit in nineteen ninety six, when you were just a little baby.

9pm – Safari Lounge. Jackpot £90. Cheat: The picture round includes the answer Joseph Turner.

We had a £100 winner last week at he Monkey Leith so we’re back to £50 this week. This means that for a rare week, the jackpot at the Safari Lounge is bigger than the monday monkey.

Come along and experience wildlife, food and spirit of the wide plains of Africa, except distilled into a small pub in Abbeyhill.

Incidentally: everyone says the food at the Safari is great. It certainly looks good.

Here’s that Joan Osborne song. It whines a bit although you can’t deny, it has a certain hook:
