Sunday night’s quizzes are always cool. There’s a friendly breeze blows through both Sunday boozers. Come and feel it tickle your nadgers* tonight.
Meanwhile, here is the video for tonight’s music round free answer which relates to the Tolbooth Tavern quiz at 8pm:
I have nothing to say about this song except that I don’t like the guy’s voice (it’s another instance of “thecrying voice” which is so prevalent in modern pop) and it sounds too close to C*ldplay to be allowed.
Luckily the clip for the music round is less than twenty seconds long, so it’ll be over quickly like a small spoon of bad medicine.
Anyway, see you at the quiz tonight and don’t forget your coat, cos it’s November and you wouldny want to be cutting about with nae coat.
Sunday is often a challenge for humans. Especially if there’s work the next day.
Scientists have been working on the problem and their findings are clear: IF YOU WANT PLEASURE ON A SUNDAY YOU MUST ATTEND A PUB QUIZ.
This is science. Best believe it.
Meanwhile here’s the wee cheaty bonus for reading my bullshit: an answer for tonight’s music round at the Percy:
Whoa. Sixty eight million views. Hardcore.
I have never had any interest in Air Supply beyond their occasional appearance as an answer on Popmaster. I’ve just looked them up on Wikipedia and I’m not really any more inspired. They’re mainly Australian. I didn’t know that.
Hey – it’s raining again and a bit colder. What happened to that summer? It’s only been away for a week. I miss it already.
Anyway – one thing that is NOT affected is the quiz. Sunday night provides two excellent experiences. Try one. Try both.
Again, it’s late in the day, so I’m just going to cut straight into the free music round answer which relates to the Tolbooth Tavern quiz tonight:
I was watching one of the “Story Of…” Top of The Pops documentaries the other night (one year per episode) and the 1981 episode was saying that this performance of the Birdie Dance (by The Tweets) was the very last appearance of Legs & Co. on Top of The Pops.
They had been the house dancers for years and, judging from their contribution to the docco, they are still pissed off that The Birdie Song was their swan song.
The song gets a bad press. It was also voted “Most annoying song ever” in a poll by dotmusic in 2000.
I knew both songs but never noticed they were the same song until I read the youtube comments on the Joss Stone version.
We keep learning.
Tonight is your last Sunday chance to enter a Dead Pool. I took entries on Wednesday and Sunday and as well as the usual strong showing from Prince Philip, The Queen and Justin Bieber there was also a rush of “smart money” onto Demi Lovato.
Personally, I wouldn’t recognise Demi Lovato if she came to the front door selling mops. The news about her overdosing left me shrugging but I’ve looked her up and it seems she used to be on Barney and Friends and Disney Channel and then she was a pop singer and did all sort of telly. Her biggest hit in the UK charts was called ‘Heart Attack’ and, to be fair, isn’t great.
Just in case she DOES come to your door selling mops, Lovato looks like this:
