Hey – it’s raining again and a bit colder. What happened to that summer? It’s only been away for a week. I miss it already.
Anyway – one thing that is NOT affected is the quiz. Sunday night provides two excellent experiences. Try one. Try both.
Again, it’s late in the day, so I’m just going to cut straight into the free music round answer which relates to the Tolbooth Tavern quiz tonight:
I was watching one of the “Story Of…” Top of The Pops documentaries the other night (one year per episode) and the 1981 episode was saying that this performance of the Birdie Dance (by The Tweets) was the very last appearance of Legs & Co. on Top of The Pops.
They had been the house dancers for years and, judging from their contribution to the docco, they are still pissed off that The Birdie Song was their swan song.
The song gets a bad press. It was also voted “Most annoying song ever” in a poll by dotmusic in 2000.
The music round cheat for the Persevere is a big hit from the 80s. No one had a voice like Roland Gift.
It still bangs.
I’m personally pleased that England are NOT in the final. Not from a petty shit-hate point of view, but more for the fact that the pub (the Persevere) will largely be neutral this afternoon, which is usually a better atmosphere.
My only wish for the final this afternoon is that it concludes in normal time. If so then the quiz will go ahead as usual at 6pm.
If it goes to extra time we may have to start a little later, but either way there WILL be a quiz.
