Sunday Night Pub Quiz. Come to Leith. Come to the Canongate.

Tonight’s quizzes :

6pm – The Persevere. Jackpot: £30. Cheat: Frogger (pic round)

8pm – Tolbooth Tavern. Jackpot: £30. Cheat: The Tweets (music round)

Hey – it’s raining again and a bit colder. What happened to that summer? It’s only been away for a week. I miss it already.

Anyway – one thing that is NOT affected is the quiz. Sunday night provides two excellent experiences. Try one. Try both.

Again, it’s late in the day, so I’m just going to cut straight into the free music round answer which relates to the Tolbooth Tavern quiz tonight:

I was watching one of the “Story Of…” Top of The Pops documentaries the other night (one year per episode) and the 1981 episode was saying that this performance of the Birdie Dance (by The Tweets) was the very last appearance of Legs & Co. on Top of The Pops.

They had been the house dancers for years and, judging from their contribution to the docco, they are still pissed off that The Birdie Song was their swan song.

The song gets a bad press. It was also voted “Most annoying song ever” in a poll by dotmusic in 2000.

It was also voted as “Least Metal Moment of All Time” by VH1, specifically the time that Vince Neil out of Motley Crue led the annual Chicken Dance at the annual Oktoberfest in Cincinnati.

See you at the quiz tonight!

Yo!
