7.30pm – Ship Inn, Musselburgh. Jackpot £90. Cheat answer: Jean-Michel Jarre (music round) – Currently Closed for Refurb. (should be re-opened before Christmas)

9pm – The Newsroom. Jackpot £100. Cheat answer: Travis (music round).

Cheat Clue

Here is the cheat clue for tonight’s music round at the Newsroom. It’s Scottish 90s favourites band: Travis.

Ben and Tracy – being grown up

I never like this song at the time – wrote it off as another boring Travis song but I’ve just watched the video which I’d never seen and the song really got to me.

A wee bit emotional actually.

I must be getting old.

As we get older we get more knowledgable.

Caitlin at the Monkey asked me last night “Where do you get all these questions from? Do you actually know this stuff?

She was specifically referring to the Pangolin in the picture round. Here is a pangolin:

Image result for pangolin
A pangolin

So if you didn’t know what a pangolin looked like, you do now. And you might forget the name but then again you might not.

The point is, it’s just a matter of time before you run into these things.

Eventually you learn EVERYTHING.

This happens around the age of 40. And that, kids, is why us grown-ups are just so damn clever.

Glad you asked.

See you at the quiz tonight.

Cheers,

Dr Paul

This is the music round cheat from tonight’s music round at the Newsroom: (there’s a guy with an absurd rainbow jumper in the band – don’t miss the clip)

Monday Quiz Action

7pm – Brass Monkey Leith. Jackpot £100. Cheat: There is an act in the music round called Sunbeam. See vid below to hear the song.

9pm – Safari Lounge. Jackpot £60. Cheat: One of the answers in the pic round is Waterloo.

Nice pop-trance thing. Video’s shite though. Too many cuts, too confusing. There’s a chase and guns and some sci-fi shit and nothing really makes any sense.

Better just dance.

Monday Night Quiz Fandango

Tonight’s Quizzes (Monday):

7pm – Brass Monkey Leith. Jackpot £100. Cheat: The Fratellis are in the picture round

9pm – Safari Lounge. Jackpot £60. Cheat: The music round includes Travi McCoy, see vid below.

Meanwhile, do you know the colour of Fandango? Did you even know fandango was a colour. Well it is. It’s kinda purple.

Fandango has an RGB setup: 181,51,137

I don’t know why I’m telling you this.

Perhaps next time someone tells you that there’s no word that rhymes with purple, you can say “except for tango“.

You’re welcome.

Anyway, here’s that Travi McCoy video. It’s catchy and shite. Oh look, it’s got Bruno fucking Mars in it. Joy.

ARGYLE BAR, 7PM – Jackpot: £60, Cheat: “Prince Harry

NEWSROOM, 9PM – Jackpot £100, Cheat: “Sir Mix-a-Lot” (see vid at bottom of post)

Tonight’s quizzes focus on the bilateral struggle of charity and capitalism and their varying efforts to make the world a better place.

No they don’t, it’s just about getting pissed and winning cash.

Young jackpot winner
Even young people can win the money despite their lack of knowledge about anything at all.

So the music round clue tonight  is for the Newsroom and it’s this amazing piece of old-skool bombast from Sir Mix-a_Lot, about whom I know little other than the fact that he likes big butts. You’ll recognise the hook.
