I’m reading ‘Around The World In Eighty Days’ at the moment, by top French geezer Jules Verne. You know the story: Phileas Fogg goes round the world in 80 days for a bet. It’s 1872, so it’s not like now when you can just fly.
The book, of course, is great. But the problem is that I remember watching the cartoon show ‘Around The World With Willy Fogg’ when I was a kid which is based on the novel and in which Phileas Fogg is Willy Fogg and Willy Fogg is a big posh lion.
So when I’m reading the book, the only thing I can picture is this character who is literally a lion.
I say “problem” but I guess it just makes it a bit surreal. Which is no bad thing.
