Wednesday 1st November, 2023

So, it’s Wednesday and it’s lashing down with rain and it reminds me of various conversations outside the Joker & The Thief in recent times where smokers are desperately trying to strike the balance between staying reasonably dry and actually getting a puff, and the conclusion that “It always rains on Wednesdays”

Which got me thinking – is there anything in it?

Can it be that, over a whole year, one day would be more susceptible to rain than another?

It sounds ridiculous at first but then I remember reading something years ago, along the lines of how it’s warmest in cities on (e.g.) Thursdays*, because the Urban Heat Island Effect is at it’s peak before the business of the city eases off for the weekend.

In other words, no matter the time of year, (e.g.) Thursday will be more likely to be warmer than Monday in any given week.

Back to the question of whether Wednesdays are wetter…

Now, my Google search-skills are moderate/decent, but I’ve been searching now for a full five minutes and cannot find anything about rainfall stats per day of the week.

I had a lie-in this morning but I need to get on with stuff now. So if anyone has any proper scientific insight on this, let me know!

Music Round Clue for Ship Inn:

This is TAME IMPALA and their tune which appears in the music round tonight at the Ship Inn. The video comes from a film with Tilda Swinton which I’m probably never going to watch because it’s got a High School massacre in it and I don’t like those. At least this one is bow-and-arrow rather than guns, but still.

Meanwhile:
