Bonni’s first quiz was last Tuesday night at the Waverley Bar on St.Mary’s Street – all reports say it was a great success and she’s back there tonight. Catch her at 7.30pm
Meanwhile, my Tuesday night quiz at the Safari Lounge has a bit of a problem which is that Team Pepeeja keep winning. Not every single week, but certainly most weeks.
As far as I can tell, the problem is the lack of quality opposition as opposed to Pepeeja being amazing.
I mean, Pepeeja are a good team, a great team, but they’re not that great.
I remember a couple of months ago they turned up to Brass Monkey Leith on a Monday night and they had their arses handed to them by the wall of talent which quizzes there. As far as I recall, they finished last or second-last on that occasion.
Then again, they didn’t have Mal (aka Super Mal) with them on their Brass Monkey excursion. I hear he’s the key team member when anything geography-related comes up, which it does.
It’s not like the other teams at Safari are dumb, it’s just that they write down dumb things. It seems to happen pretty regularly on Tuesday nights that an otherwise-excellent quiz performance is totally ruined by three or four insane answers that could never possibly be right.
So come on folks, bring a decent team to Safari and show Pepeeja the meaning of competition.
