Hi *|FNAME|*

I had a dream last night where the Queen was still alive (in fact she was a fair bit younger) and I’d been invited to Buckingham Palace to hang out and do a quiz (in the sense that I was going to take part in one, rather than hosting).

There was some meet-and-greet preamble, lots of people having drinks in a room. Butlers with trays of champagne flutes.

All were standing and I was saying something about a question and the Queen, overhearing my chat, was right on it – “He’ll be in my team”.

And everyone just said OK cos she was the Queen.

So then I was chatting to the Maj, and gamely trying to bring up the madness of inherited state power in the modern age.

Please note, I was doing this while remaining completely polite and civil – I ‘m not an animal, but she was well-practised in slippery semantics and she brushed my points aside like a newt slipping through a pond.

She just wanted to get on with the quiz.

Then I noticed The Queen’s stunning earrings which were white and spherical with a regular pattern of blue highlights, like a graphic representing coronavirus. The highlights were tiny, brilliant, bright blue gems – sapphires or diamonds.

This earring might sound to you like some sort of a Christmas Tree bauble but it was actually classy. I couldn’t take my eyes off them.

Then Queen disappeared for a bit and I was talking to one of the servants or footmen or whatever they are. One of them said “I saw you looking at here earrings. Do you know something?: Well, each of those earrings is worth fourteen billion pounds

Bloody hell! Those royals.

Music Round Clue for Brass Grange:

This is PAOLO NUTINI and his song which appears in the music round at the Brass Monkey Grange tonight. It’s the most middle-of-the-road thing I’ve listened to this week. Underwhelming. But worth 2 points, nonetheless.
