While I’m sitting at my desk working, I sometimes run quiz shows in the background. They are sometimes useful for question ideas.
Obviously, I’m trying to answer along. But I’m 53 now and suddenly, in the last year or so, I’ve noticed it’s taking me a wee bit longer to dig out answers that I used to just fire out.
Example: I was watching an old episode of Pointless which had pictures of politicians you had to identify. One picture came up that I absolutely, 100% recognised. But what’s her name?
I paused the show so I could think about it, thinking I would get it after a few seconds. But the seconds kept ticking by…
In the end it maybe took 30 or 40 seconds. I was on the verge of giving up when suddenly it snapped: Condoleezza Rice (US Secretary of State under Bush Jr.).
I was pleased I got it eventually, but it took a while. Scary stuff.
