NO DRUMMOND ST UNTIL THE 25TH:
Brass Monkey Drummond Street is swamped in Festival Pricks. So no quiz there until Monday 25th.

I’m on my way back from Manchester this morning, so this email is scheduled (I’m writing it last Wednesday. Isn’t technology amazing?
Here’s a brief timeline of computing technology from a UK social history point of view:
1970s: “You can now do more work in less time.” (half the administrative workforce is immediately sacked.)
1980s: “Wow. These computers can schedule deliveries so efficiently!” (Warehouses go bust)
1990s: “Communications are catching up with computing power” (Call centres offshored.)
2000s: “Dot com is here on your PC… with broadband!” (Descent into madness begins)
2010: “Now you can do it all from your PHONE!” (Wormhole madness becomes active alienation)
2020s: “And now this bad boy can think for itself!” (Hard to say as we’re only halfway through the decade but, put it this way, extinction is possible.)
Why is any of this important? Well, maybe it isn’t. Maybe everything will be just fine.
See you tonight!
