Friday 21st February, 2025

Hey, it’s Friday. Specifically, today is every other Friday. So that means it’s the Crossborders Brewery quiz tonight, with Brigid doing tonight and a hefty £150 jackpot on the table. Go! Win it!

Man, there’s been some dumb stuff this week. Earlier in the week we had a team that thought Munich was the capital of Germany.

Last night I had a team give “Paris“ as an answer when I gave the clue that the city I was looking for was on the Mediterranean Sea.

In a way, I envy these people because when the world is that mysterious and unknown, maybe life is more fantastical? It’s a stretch, but I’m trying to see the benefit of being so massively uncurious that you make it to adulthood without finding out basic geopolitical world facts.

Don’t this trivia just seep in by simply being awake and listening and looking?

I mean, maybe I’ve skipped the groove and I’ve completely overestimated everyone’s quizzing ability. Just let me know if the quiz gets too hard. I can always try dumb it down more – although it’s harder to write questions that everyone can answer – it’s always easier to writer harder, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, get thee to Dalkeith Crossborders Brewery at Eskbank tonight.

Just turn up or, to be sure of a table, give them a call on 0131 629 3990

Music Round clue for tonight at Cross Borders:

This is A-Ha, a Norwegian boy bandwho were big in the eighties. In fact, unless you’re as old as me, you’ve no idea how big they were. These guys were everything in pop, dominating the charts in the mid-80s, the direct successors to Wham! and Duran Duran. The singer in particular was the kissing dream of every girl in Britain, they had the pure pop look but, looking back now, it’s remarkable how rock their sound was. This one is in the music round at Crossborders Brewery tonight
