I’d been meaning for ages to go to the Polish restaurant attached to the Persevere pub and finally got round to it yesterday on the occasion of my mum’s first Polish birthday.

You see, her dad, Auld Stan, was a Pole who came over to Scotland during the Second World War and married a Leith woman and had lots of children including my mum. So last year my mum, who is Scottish, got round to securing Polish citizenship and a Polish passport (very handy these days)

And to celebrate her first Polish birthday we had dinner at the Percy.pl yesterday. Such great food – properly Polish.

Big portions too. I shouldn’t really eat again for a couple of days. In fact, I’d originally planned to go today and then do next door to do the quiz but it’s good job we switched to yesterday cos I wouldn’t have been able to present properly after all that food. I would have to have had a wee nap, right in the middle of round two or three. 

But I’m past that. Quiz goes ahead as usual. It’s a rollover – £60 tonight.
