I’m sure I will have had French Canadians at the quiz before last night at the Candy Bar, but this lot were proud, calling themselves “LES QUEBECQUIZ”

And they started off great but it went a bit wrong and they got bust and they finished second-to-last.

Here’s a rough summary of how different foreign teams perform. This is based on my own experience and is admittedly, a broad brushstroke.

TOP TIER: (Actually good at the quiz, actually understand the quiz and occasionally win): DUTCH, GERMAN, DANISH, SWEDISH, NORWEGIAN, HUNGARIAN, KIWIS, IRISH, CANADIANS

MIDDLE TIER: (Can cope with the quiz, quite enjoy it, do all right, but never win): SWISS, AMERICAN, AUSTRALIAN, INDIAN, POLISH, MEXICAN, GREEK, PAKISTANI, ICELANDIC, CHILEAN

BOTTOM TIER (WAY TOO DRUNK): Russian, Finnish
BOTTOM TIER (TOO BUSY SHOUTING AT EACH OTHER TO HEAR THE QUESTIONS): Spanish, Italian
BOTTOM TIER (ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT’S GOING ON): Chinese, Japanese
BOTTOM TIER (UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY BUT TOO ALOOF TO PARTICIPATE): The French.

I hope no one is offended. These are just observations.
