So, Saint Patrick’s Day. I was listening to Manchester-based BBC Radio 5 Live this morning and the (English-sounding) presenter was interviewing some Irish person. She included the line “You’re dressed in green, I’m dressed in green – all ready for the big day”

OK Fine – but I still don’t understand why the Irish day is a treated as any bigger deal than the Scottish day (or the English or Welsh days for that matter). My best guess is Guinness marketing efforts over the last forty years or more. But I was born cynical.

I know some quizmasters make an effort to have an Irish themed quiz for Saint Patrick’s Day but I’m not Irish, have no real links to the place and couldn’t give a monkey’s – so standard quiz for you all tonight. Hope you don’t mind.
