EXPERIENCE THE STRATHIE’S LEGENDARY LOW BAR PRICES

So the Strathie is the new phenomenon on the DP Quiz circuit.

If you don’t know, it’s on Iona Street, just off Leith Walk. Basically opposite the Brass Leith and one block off Leith Walk. Near the Tourmalet.

The main thing about the Strathie is the price of booze. Regulars from other quizzes have been to the Strathie and described their joy as they find a round costing six quid.

To be fair, it was a small round, but the point is the prices are low. I’ll try and get some proper actual prices for you in coming weeks.

As well as this, coming to the quiz at the Strathie offers some key advantages:

  1. Easier to Win. Fewer teams. The first 2 quizzes have been FIVE and EIGHT teams. So there’s a much better chance of winning compared to The Joker (more like 15 teams) or Brass Leith (often over 20 teams)
  2. Old World Atmos. The Strathie has recently been refurished so everything is clean and nice but it remains an old-style. and in these times of latte-lager and craft peanut gin, it is a refreshingly straightforward boozer. And of course, the prices are old-school.

I’m the host and I’ll see you there in a few hours. You’ll love it.

Cheat Clue

Here is the cheat clue for tonight’s music round at the Newsroom. It’s your old darlin’, Miss Minogue:

Typical Kylie track

A typical Kylie track this one. There’s some kind of sensuality, but it’s all a little manufactured and pre-formatted.

Kylie’s a top star, but from day one when she started with Stock Aitken Waterman, it always seemed a little over-rehearsed; always smoothed out like linen that’s been ironed by a strong man for many hours.

Pop with the fizz so plastic, it just tastes like milk.

Bland like a cup of tea with too much milk. Or milk chocolate. Or the beige wall of a doctor’s waiting room.

It feels unfair to write this. Fair play to Kylie and her co-workers. They’re the ones with the hits, not me – they must have been doing something right.

“THURSDAY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT”

That’s the slogan that will be burned on your brain forever when you win the quiz tonight.

See you there.

Cheers,

Dr Paul
