Half-Term Quiz Machine

Tonight’s quizzes :

6pm – The Persevere. Jackpot: £30. Cheat: The War On Drugs (music round)

8pm – Tolbooth Tavern. Jackpot: £30. Cheat: Washington DC (pic round)

It’s half-term. That will mean nothing to many of you, but for those of use with kids it means a different kind of week.

Like everything in the world, it’s almost impossible to classify this as either fully “good” or “bad”.

Plus side: No hauling out of bed in what feels like the middle-of-the-night, just to fulfill the school’s totally arbitrary “start time”, and all the pain that involves.

Plus side: No homework, and all the pain that involves.

Minus side:

Why are you still here?

Why can’t I get on with any of my stuff?

Why do you need everything done for you?

Sure, it feels like bad parenting but yes you can watch Netflix for the next three hours if it means I can get anything done at all.

When are you back at school?

Monday?

Excellent.

Obviously, this has got little to do with the quiz except to say I might be slightly more disorganized than usual for the coming week’s super quiz events.

Why am I telling you? Maybe I’m trying to pre-secure some forgiveness.

Anyway:

The War On Drugs is a good name for a band. I like it. It could mean the conventional meaning: a war AGAINST drug proliferation. You could read it like you’re AT war and ON drugs.

Who knows?

By the way, I love all the people that come to the quiz. Here are a few teams from the Tolbooth Tavern:
