I can’t believe the World Cup is still on. It feels like weeks ago that Scotland got knocked out. Where do they get the energy to carry on?
That’s the admirable things about something like Wimbledon. They just get on with it. Two weeks. Boom. Done.
Other things that could be improved by brevity: election campaigns, most songs by Prince, Midnight Mass.
Things that could stand being longer: summer, good books, the distance between the last two bus stops on Inverleith Row at Goldenacre.
But let’s not be ungrateful and ignorant. There are lots of things that are just the right duration: the most obvious example being the DP Quiz:
