On the very morning of semi-final 1, I’m finally getting round to some proper 2026 Eurovision research this morning.
There is a lot of banging and shouting. Finland and Greece and Bulgaria are OK. I like Italy. The UK one is interesting but I have a feeling it will sound terrible live. I hope not.
Only 35 countries this year. There are boycotts of the contest by countries who are unhappy with Israel’s continued participation.
Which reminds me, I wrote a question this morning about the time that Palestinian and Israeli leaders jointly won the Nobel Prize for Peace for their work towards lasting Middle East Peace. This was back in 1994. Seems a long time ago. Seems five minutes ago.
It’s all very tricky but there are no political rifts at the quiz. We are all friends under the holy banner of questions and answers.
