I was talking to a team last night at the Safari who were hatching a plan to travel the full route (terminus to terminus) on EVERY Lothian bus route. They say they’re in the “planning stage” at the moment.
Quite the challenge.
I’ve written a few questions about Lothian routes. Without looking it up again I think the longest is the 47 which goes all the way out to Penicuik and has something like 95 stops.
Salute and respect to the drivers who get through that without pissing themselves.
Going to the end of each route might be a nice adventure, but very time-consuming, certainly not something you could do in one day (I think).
. I fancy a different challenge for myself which would be to ride at least one stop on every bus number, but all on one day. I reckon this would be possible. I think the highest number is 49.
And we’re talking proper Lothian buses here, i.e. the city buses. Not the mad “country” routes that are full of farmers and other dangerous hicks.
I’m looking forward to catching up with this team from last night once they’ve begun their challenge. Got any other bus challenge ideas? Let me know.
