I know you’re dying to hear it, so here’s my take on the budget.
People who get benefits get the rap, but they aren’t getting rich
Think about housing benefit. That goes to the recipient, who then passes it straight to the landlord. The “recipient” says hello and waves goodbye to that money in the flash of an eye.
It’s the landlord’s asset that’s getting paid for.
The net result is a transfer of wealth from the public purse (i.e. taxpayers) to property owners. This seems slightly mental and pretty much a scam.
