QUIZ NEWS: Sandport Tavern down at Leith Shore is now 3 Old Monks and, after a week off for setting up the pub, the quiz is back tonight. at the usual time: 7.30pm

=============

There’s been a lot of anti-BBC sentiment this week, bleeding through into pub conversations and team names.

I just want to add the age-old caveat: be careful what you wish for.

I honestly don’t think you want a national broadcaster which, cut off from public funds, suddenly becomes driven by profit and advertisers. Surely you know in your heart-of-hearts that that would be shit, no?

There’s a guy who drinks in the Joker who used to be a senior person in the Met Office (the weather people) and he was telling me last night that in the days of Thatcher there were moves to privatise the Met Office but it was the British military who ultimately said to Thatcher and her government: DO NOT DO THIS.

The military, more than short-termist politicians, realised the value of what they had and the potential loss of getting rid.

.

The grifters and shills always tell you that privatised public utilities will be better and they always turn out to be shit. I class the BBC as a utility. Keep it, I reckon.

Anyway, see you tonight…

Music Round clue for the Newsroom tonight:

This is Don Omar with some boom-boom that they call reggaeton. Not my favourite stuff. Horrible video as well. One of those made-up cars/girls lifestyle workouts. Pure tedium sold as high glamour. Sigh. Anyway, it’s in the music round tonight at Newsroom.
