I see ‘Spinal Tap II’ is out. I think I’ll give it a miss.

It’s funny how there some jobs where being old doesn’t stop you. And it’s funny that being a rock star – which in some ways is the epitome and the apex of youth culture – is one of those jobs.

The youngest remaining Rolling Stone is 78. The other two are over 80. Still performing. Still selling (lots of) tickets.

I watched the 1500 metres race at the World Athletics Championships yesterday afternoon. The British guy came second and he’s 31 years old – he’s nearly done. He’ll have to retrain now: become a maths teacher, or a miner, or whatever.

I guess technically you can do the 1500 metres if you’re 80 years old but no one is going to pay to watch. It’s a short career. I hope he gets sorted out.

Anyway, best pot tonight is £180 at the Sandport Tavern in lucky Leith. You might see some old middle-distance runners there, but probably no rocks stars.

Here’s tonight’s full line-up:

Music Round clue for Brass Monkey Grange tonight:

This is the moment in the late 1970s when pub rock reached it’s ultimate and final form. It’s Robert Palmer, doing his song which is in the music round tonight at The Brass Monkey Grange.
