Monday 4th March, 2024

There were a couple of fellas at the PErsevere last night who named their team ‘The Dengue Boys’

i asked them if they were named after the killer disease Dengue Fever.

The chap explained that it was supposed to be a pun on ‘Vengaboys’ and they had indeed contracted Dengue Fever whilst on a recent holiday to Brazil.

I don’t really know anything about Dengue Fever except for the vague terror associated with the name. But the guy explained that they were pretty sick for about three days and that they were fine after that.

And there was no risk of infection to the citizens of the Percy. You have to get it from a mosquito bite. Blimey!

And I’ve just looked it up on GOD (aka Wikipedia).

Apparently most cases are mild or asymptomatic. People do die, but it’s rare.

So there’s one thing less to be mortally afraid of. Dengue fever? No problem! What a happy Monday.
