The contrast between social media and real life is pronounced. I saw a tweet from some well-known Tweeter yesterday which said something along the lines of “Does everyone feel like a huge elastic band is about to snap?”
This person was talking about political things – the idea that dissatisfaction and anger is just about to boil over into action. I see this a lot on Twitter: people absolutely certain than there’s about to be a revolution or a civil war.
And then you go outside and it’s just people going to the shops and waiting for the bus and chatting about football and the weather and looking at ducks.
I prefer the real world.
