Storm Isha? I’m not convinced with these names. There seems to be a trend with the Met Office deliberately choosing names which are unusual and hard-to-spell.
Storm names for winter 2023/24 are thus:
Agnes, Babet, Ciaran, Debi, Elin, Fergus, Gerrit, Henk, Isha, Jocelyn, Kathleen, Lilian, Minnie, Nicholas, Olga, Piet, Regina, Stuart, Tamiko, Vincent and Walid
Agnes and Fergus are about the only good ones here. Maybe Nicholas. Maybe Olga.
The rest seem obtuse at worst, prone to misspelling at best. Why “Piet” and not Peter? That looks Dutch.
Why “Stuart”? It’s a fine name but, as we know here at DP Quiz, you can have a Stewart and a you can have a Stuart. Two different things.
Who the hell is called Gerrit?
I would have thought the Met Office is looking for a lack of ambiguity, or is that not the aim? If you know, let me know…
In terms of the actual storm, I hope you all survived with no worse than the downed washing in our garden which I will have to fix up between now and the weather being good enough to hang the clothes outside, i.e. June
What’s the worst that could have happened? Well, imagine there WAS a tornado and it somehow swept up wildlife from another part of the world and dumped them in Scotland and actually rained kangaroos.
That would be difficult to deal with. I hope I never experience it.
