If this was the Wild West, you’d probably have to worry about someone shooting you in the back at the pub quiz.
Or in the front.
Really, it doesn’t really matter which way round they shoot you, if they shoot you, it’s always inconvenient at the very least and sometimes even fatal.
But I’ve been doing this for well over twenty years and I’ve never seen anyone getting shot at the quiz. Or stabbed. Or even cudgeled. We live in relatively peaceful times.
I noticed a little while ago that I kept being offered videos on my social media feeds of crime moments: people shooting burglars and that kind of thing. It’s the algorithm, innit? You watch one and then it gives you loads.
But one day earlier this year, maybe May or June, I realised what was going on and how it made me feel, so I blocked the accounts in question. Life has been better since then. I feel less under threat.
I recommend blocking the nasties. Fill up your Twitter, Insta and Facebook feeds with Ducks, Seals, Eurovision and PUB QUIZZES.
