The lyrics of the song are nasty.

Usher’s message is basically that he is very successful, he is having lots of sex with lots of different women and he’s also got money.

The reason for this is because he was worked hard and anyone who doesn’t have money is just jealous.

He then makes the fatal mistake that successful people within the capitalist system often make: he attributes all his success to hard work.

Of course, successful people do work hard but their mistake is believing that anyone who hasn’t “made it” – and I hate that phrase – did NOT work hard.

This is not logically accurate. Everyone who works hard gets rich? OK – then how do you explain slavery, the gig economy and just about every other job these days in times where margins are sliced with a razor and slack-in-the-system is ruthlessly hunted down by consultants and eliminated.

Sorry Usher, the tune’s catchy but your philosophy is pish.
