This is one of the most iconic pop songs of the eighties. What a sound. When we first heard this on the radio in 1984, our British minds were blown. “Who are these Japanese blokes?” we thought.

Turns out they were German which, at the time, was only marginally less exotic.

You won’t appreciate that back in the UK of the 80s, especially in Scotland, foreigners were much thinner on the ground. Even being French was pretty far out.
