Tonight sees the final quiz at Brass Monkey Drummond Street until September. The Monkey is situated right in the heart of the festival maelstrom and it means the bar is too transient to achieve quiz during August. Come along tonight to win the cash: £90
All other quizzes continue as normal during the great annual disruption.
Tonight’s music round cheat bonus at the Joker & The Thief is Ashanti and she sounds like this:
Everyone is falling out with each other in the video. It’s like one giant bad mood.
High production values though, like a movie…
Dead Pool resumes tonight, taking entries for August droppers…
Meanwhile, Cunto cards continue to fly. If you want a packet of the game that’s rocking the nation, hit me up – I usually have two or three packets with me at the quiz.
The music round cheat for the Persevere is daft Punk but doesn’t necessarily sound like Daft Punk. Not least because the bloke doing the singing is Paul Williams, better known as the guy that did the music for Bugsy Malone back in the 1970s
The whole song is over eight minutes long. That’s longer than Bohemian Rhapsody, although it has not attainend the same cultural impact.
There’s no way Ken Bruce would play this at the end of Popmaster. It’s too obscure. Not Steely Dan enough. Not Dire Straits.
Thanks for coming to the quiz tonight if you’re coming and, if you are coming, don’t be the ones that take the hump.
The music round tune tonight is my favourite Eurovision from the last three years. It’s Bulgaria’s Poli Genova and we saw it live in Stockholm at the ESC in 2016. The place went mad – it’s a dance banger:
Monday night is the first night after the terror of the World Cup has lifted like a fog.
Celebrate by leaving the house and meeting real people in a real pub and playing the real quiz for real money.
By the way 2018 Cunto Cards are in stock so stop me and buy a deck if you want to get in on the action. Or click on the image below to buy them online…
The music round cheat for the Persevere is a fairly obscure one. Unless you’re my age. And into the kind of stuff I was into then, specifically, at that time. So it’s probably quite a good one to give you as a cheat.
Video is home made:
Next week’s Sunday quiz at the Percy may be slightly affected by the World Cup Final but hopefully not.
Kick off is 4pm so if it runs to 90mins then we’ll be OK. If there’s extra time we might start slightly late.
Tolbooth will be unaffected.
So let’s hope Belgium pump Croatia in normal time.
Speaking of football, did you know that the Hibs season starts today? Outrageous. Some kind of testimonial apparently.
Of course, the real season doesn’t quite start yet. The first tie in the Scottish League Cup is not until Wednesday night.
