Now here is the cheat item for tonight’s music round at the Persevere. It’s Maxi Priest:

This song was written by Cat Stevens who had loads of hits in the 60s and 1970s. They had a hippy vibe. Then he became Yusuf Islam and, as far as I know, never had a hit again.

The Maxi Priest version was also a big hit, reaching the Top 5 in 1988 in the UK charts as well as top-ten positions in charts in Norway, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands and Belgium.

Nice work.

Bonus Maxi Priest fact. Maxi is the cousin of the bloke who was the singer for Inner Circle (‘Girl I’m Gonna Make You Sweat’)
