CHEAT TIPS

Tonight’s music round at the Brass Monkey includes American rock group Aerosmith who preen and pout and sound like this:

One of the comments on youtube remarks that Aerosmith wrote the song after a pub incident in which their singer had mistaken Vince Neil (of Motley Crue) for a woman.

Transgender is everywhere these days but back in the 80s it was novel enough for Aerosmith to write a song about it.

The lyrics, if you look them up, are pretty oblique, opaque and inconclusive. I’m not sure if they’re happy about blokes looking like ladies or not. They skirt around the issue.

Straight off the top of my head I can think of three other artists with songs where a lady turns out to be a chap: Tone Loc, The Kinks and Blowfly.

It’s a theme.

In fact, I’m just thinking about it – if I can think of one more I can make a music round out of it…
