Cheat Clue

Here is the cheat clue for tonight’s music round at the Newsroom. It’s brilliant band The Hollies who you tend to think of as a sixties band, although this particular pop masterpiece is from the 1970s:

The Hollies are one of those bands who were great in their own right but were overshadowed by bigger names at the time, notably the Beatles.

If some of the Hollies tunes had been written by the Beatles they would be a lot more famous.

Examples: ‘Bus Stop‘ is a brilliant low-key pop gem from 1966 that and something like ‘I Can’t Tell The Bottom From The Top‘ from 1970 is a more American-sounding piece, and still a gem.

And if you liked the 1960s, then you should certainly get yourself to the Strathie tonight where the prices have not gone up since 1969.

(Note: this is an exaggeration – but it is pretty cheap)

And the Newsroom has the big pot tonight: £150. Wowser.
