Ry Cooder was voted 8th best guitarist in the world by Rolling Stone magazine but I always say that just because a certain piece of music is difficult to play that doesn’t mean it’s great to listen to.

I ike this piece of music, but that’s probably more down to the accordion.

The video tells a myth-story beloved of musicians everywhere which is that all you have to do is have talent, and suddenly loads of people will appear out of nowhere to listen to your talent and appreciate your talent and make you a commercial success and a beloved hero.

OK, fine.

Meanwhile, here is the other music round cheat which tonight applies to Kerry’s quiz at the Portobello Tap. It’s Cream:

Cream purvey a different kind of white-man guitar music, with more rock and roll stink, a lot more hippy whiff, and and less accordion. It’s still good though. Probably because one of them is Scottish.
